Summer 1939. Marie travels with her parents to visit her grandmother in a small town near Avignon, although rumors of war have already reached this idealistic place. Marie's parents are constantly busy with each other with their love. Surrounded by sexual frankness, the girl imagines herself to be a woman and gets angry when a young Jewish doctor, Alexander, treats her like a child. When the girl's father leaves home to stay with relatives, Marie notices that Alexander and her mother often retire, and begins to spy on them.
